HowDo?! Yorkshire is an arts marketing company offering collaborative, caring and tailored services that help connect and champion grassroots arts and culture in Yorkshire.

Our growing team helps us to offer regional print distribution, on-street promotions and research, online events and content marketing.

Our regular clients include Bradford Council, Leeds Council, Science and Media Museum, Henry Moore Institute, Northern Ballet, Opera North, Leeds Film Festival, Bradford Literature Festival, Ilkley Literature Festival and Beat Herder Music - to name but a few.


We're currently looking for people to join our team in the following areas:


Distribution and Promotions Workers

Our team of Distribution and Promotions Workers help distribute print and promote events to arts and community locations across the Yorkshire region, working either solo or as part of a team. You could be helping a driver distributing flyers and posters, or conducting on-street promotions or research on behalf of an event, brand, or campaign.

This role may be combined with others and we actively encourage our team to work on different projects and areas of the business to help our team make their living and help us to build greater capacity to deliver a tailored service for our clients.

Promotions and research work include special promotions or public research and are often face-to-face and outdoors, sometimes requiring early starts or late finishes.

We are offering casual worker or freelancer contracts and flexible work @ £12 per hour* + accrued holiday pay + expenses**

*depending on the campaign brief we may offer ‘time and a half’ or ‘double-time’ for shorter shifts and campaigns that start early or late in the day to ensure this type of work remains worthwhile for our team.

**Expenses may include reimbursement travel expenses and lunch

Content Creators

Our team of Content Creators work freelance to create energetic, fun, people-centred video, audio, or photographic content for our social media platforms. You could be working with one of our distribution teams, promoting a campaign as they go about distributing to arts and community locations across the region. Or you could be going solo to attend an event or festival on behalf of HowDo?! and create a live reel or gallery to publish via our social media and website.

This is an excellent role offering casual paid work for people passionate about the arts and looking for a creative role to help start or enhance a career in media.

We are offering casual worker or freelancer contracts and occasional flexible work @ £45 (+ up to £10 to cover travel) + press-pass entry to events

Job Requirements:

  • Enthusiastic about content creation and passion for attending cultural events in Yorkshire
  • Quality examples of video, audio, or photography for event reportage
  • A polite and professional disposition
  • Confident and friendly approach to interacting with clients and the general public
  • Quick learner and hard worker
  • Must be well practised with your own equipment

Volunteer Writers and Editors

HowDo?! began life as a free monthly printed cultural magazine for Bradford in 2011 and in 2023 we launched a new online journal to once again create a platform for writers, photographers, artists and arts organisations. As a member of our Online Editorial Team you could be copy editing and paginating articles from our archive, writing an opinion piece or review, interviewing local artists or editing new content submissions ready to publish on our new online journal. You may also attend exhibitions, festivals and other events to review them on behalf of HowDo?!.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone passionate about the arts and looking for a creative role to help start or enhance their career. We have a proven track record for supporting and raising the profile of writers, artists and photographs to help them develop their professional career.

We are aim to build our new online journal and enhance partnerships with venues and festivals across Yorkshire.

This is a voluntary role with expenses paid and press-pass entry to events.
